Getting started

Four short pages. The first two are all you need on day one.

  1. Check your first file: sign in, drop a file, press Run.
  2. Read the report: the result word, the filters, what to do with a finding.
  3. Check a spreadsheet: the Confirm the columns dialog.
  4. Set up a client: a profile with the two lists that already help.

Signing in

The app is at app.stillneedsahuman.com. A workspace admin invites you by email, or you start free and get a workspace of your own. Sign in with the email address the invitation went to. An invite code or an offer code goes in the Have a code field on the sign-up page.

What you need

A bilingual file: the file your translation tool gave you, with both the source and the translation in it. XLIFF in any of its flavours (.xliff, .sdlxliff, .mxliff, .mqxliff, .txlf, .xlz, .wsxz), a Trados or memoQ package or a bilingual Excel sheet. Software string files work too: gettext .po on its own; i18n .json, .NET .resx, iOS and macOS .strings and .stringsdict, Java .properties as the source file and the translated file together, or in a zip (Software string files). A finished Word document is not bilingual, because the original text is gone. Up to 200 MB per upload.

What happens to the file

The file is read to run the check and produce the report. The uploaded file is removed within 24 hours; the report stays in your workspace until a workspace admin deletes it. A workspace can agree a longer keep for its uploaded files with us; we set it per workspace. Your file is never edited. Security and privacy has the rest.

Search or do

Press Cmd+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux anywhere in the app, even while you type in a field, or use the search control at the top. One bar finds a report or a profile by name, opens any page and starts the things you make: a check, a profile, a profile from a folder, a compare. Type a question mark in it for every keyboard shortcut.
